Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table at the African American Awareness Social. Our first meeting will take place on Monday, September 27th, from 8pm to 9:30 pm in Girvetz 2128 and there will be food.
NSBE would like to give a big thank you to Vice Chancellor Young and the people down at student affairs for their continued support of our organization. Dr. Young just recently helped NSBE acquire a classroom (Girvetz 2128) for NSBE's Classroom Initiative. The classroom initiative is another testament to NSBE's goal of retention and academic excellence within the African American STEM Community. If you need a good place to study and to see some familiar faces then the NSBE classroom is for you. We hope to see you there Monday through Thursday from 7pm to 10pm in Girvetz 2128. NSBE members, both new and old (but mostly new) May 15, 2010 Spring quarter of each year, NSBE teams up with Los Ingenieros (LI) and Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievements (MESA) to put on one of our biggest events, the Annual Awards and Installation Banquet. With this year’s theme being “Success through Unity”, the three organizations came together for an evening of celebration, networking and promotion of success between members, alumni and industrial supporters. Hosted by Wendy Fuentes, LI alumni, the banquet consisted of guest speaker, Jose Alberto Posadas (another LI alumni), an end of the year slideshow, and an award ceremony acknowledging the graduating seniors and each orgs most promising members. Scholarship awards were also given out to several Alumni and MEP members who showcased academic merit and financial need. We would like to pause here and say congratulations to NSBE members, Aisha Browne, Preston Washington, and Ashley Weatherford for receiving scholarships. The banquet ended with the new officers of each org being announced and installed for the upcoming year and recognition to the event’s biggest sponsors Raytheon and Microsoft. As one of our most prized events, the Annual Awards and Installation Banquet continues to bring NSBE, LI, and MESA members and supports together for a night of fun and praise. We hope to use this event to help catapult NSBE into the new academic year. Ewwww Egggggs !!! Mar 6, 2010 Every year NSBE hosts the egg drop at S and T day, and this year was no different. This was our first event of the year, and we had a blast. It gave the new leaders of the organization a chance to meet and interact with some of the NSBE Alumni. The kids also had a great time as they watched their eggs get dropped from the top of a fire truck. |
